What legal action can I take against an establishment if I got assaulted and there was no security?

There is no duty on the part of a commercial establishment to protect you from the criminal acts of a 3rd party, unless you were the subject of a specific threat and they received prior notice of the threat. The only exception to this doctrine is when the criminal is doing to act because he is drunk and being served while visibly intoxicated. William S. Stern
