Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

apartment leasing agreement

Is there a grace period to recind a signed apartment lease agreement in Michigan. I know a person that signed an agreement on condition of taking possesion of the property in the future. But the next day after the agreement was signed, the person physically inspected the apartment and it was not what was represented during the rental process.

Does this person have any recourse the recind the contract before taking possession?

Re: apartment leasing agreement

It depends what the agreement says and whether the landlord wants to avoid litigation. Normally, there is freedom of contract and no right to rescind, but if there is an express representation by the landlord or a guaranty of the condition, the tenant would have a right to object and the landlord may back down. for more info, please contact my office at (248)851-3171.
