Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

Quit Claim Reversal after purchase

I bought a home that had property from an adjacent lot that had been quit claimed to the seller by the neighboring property owner. After my purchase, the neighbor went to the city and questioned the original quit claim. She was able to get the city to ''deny the land split'' and the existing quit claim was nullified so she now claims the property in question. What recourse do I have?

Re: Quit Claim Reversal after purchase

I would have to research the laws in your city regarding land splits to tell you if it was a valid split at the time the property was deeded to you. If it was not the seller of the land to you may have liability to you.
