Legal Question in Social Security Law in Michigan

disability

i have multiple sclerosis and was diagnosed in 2001. i recieve ssi disability. however i had applied for social security child disability in 1995 and was denied twice before the hearing stage. i had moved for a couple of years with my parents and kind of gave uop on it. hoowever when i was told that i would be getting ssi the representative told me my case back then was still open. my question is can i still go through with my claim for the childhood disabilty claim. iwas told the case is still open and was also told my doctors the i probably had the ms back then even though i was not diagnosed until 2001.

Generally speaking, a claimant may be able to �reach back� from denial of past claim benefits depending on certain factors like how far back was the denial, the reason for the denial, where the person was in the process, the reason why the claimant did not appeal further, etc. It may be to your benefit to consult a lawyer who can look through your paperwork, better assess your situation, and if appropriate guide you through the process.
