Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan

Financial Accounts

My mother was diagnosed in Nov06 with Stage 4 cancer and died within 90dys. Before hand she had added me to her chking and savings account because I was her medical advocate(my brother was already on- he was Executor of her estate. After her death my brother immediately took over both accounts with no consultation with me. My brother now seems to have accumulated more money than seems logical...since her estate was to be divided equally between us.

1. Am I entitled to half of both accounts utside of the estate settlement - and 2. How can I verify that my brother legitimately delivered the monies properly and do I have any recourse if not?

Re: Financial Accounts

First start by asking and hoping you can rely on your brother to provide full disclosure. As a listed joint owner of the accounts you can also request information from the bank(s). If you experience what happens more often and do not feel satisfied with what you are being told, you may need to consult an attorney who has experience handling such matters.
