Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Minnesota

How do I clear my name permanently from a debt my ex husband owes to the MN Department of Revenue of $30,000 that I am innocent of according to our divorce decree? The MN Department of Revenue says it doesn’t care what our divorce decree says. I want to get remarried but I don’t want the MN Department of Revenue to go after my new husband for his money, etc. What can I do to protect him when we get married or to clear my name permanently?

You would likely need the help of a Business or Tax Attorney like myself to verify and research the tax file info with the IRS, prepare a Power of Attorney to authorize me to negotiate and deal with IRS, then prepare the required documents under the Innocent Spouse Rule.

Your new husband should ensure to properly segregate and document his credit and financial matters before and after you marry.

Call or email for further assistance.

I am in Eden Prairie , working virtually these days.
