Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Minnesota

Collections after 16 years

I had a Citibank credit card in 1990. THey have now had a sheriff serve papers, saying that a judgement will be issed. Can they do that after all these years? Will it hurt my credit to try and pay this off. DIdn't it go off my credit report after 7 years? I don't want it back on it after I have gotten my credit good again. What should I do. I have 20 days to contact them or a judgement will be issed.

They may be out of luck. Contracts usually have a 6 year Statute of Limitations. I would have to review the legal documents and your credit card records to advise. I do charge for that.
