unmarried woman's right to the house

My boygriend and i have been together for 9 years. we live in an expensive home with much ecquity. i want to break up with him but the house is in his name but we have shared bills thru out our entire relationship. he says he would never cheat me out of my share of the house but i know a breakup would break his heart and you never know what people are like til it comes to money. do i need to pursue getting my name on the title to the home and what is involved to do that? thank you,

It is not required that the property is listed in both partuies names to seek an interest. If you contributed to that household, you may file a partition action seeking the value of that contribution from the real estate.
