Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Minnesota

house problems

Bought a house. The day we moved in found out that the phone cable was not trenched in and none of the phone jacks were hooked up. Also toilet was leaking and coming through light fixture downstairs. They said they were not aware of this. In floor heating not working and they said it was when they lived there. What can be done? Looks like it will be over $1200 for all the repairs.

Re: house problems

The answer depends greatly on your contract and whether or not the defects were defects that should have been found as part of an inspection before the purchase or whether or not they were concealed by the former owners.

If they were not concealed or required to be disclosed as part of the Seller's disclosures, you would have no remedy.

A review of the contracts and the particular defects would be necessary.
