Legal Question in Criminal Law in Mississippi

can i leave state

Hello. Over a year and a half ago I was arrested and charged with possession of illegal materials related to my computer. As of today nothing has become of this. I guess you could say that I am still out on bond. I am wanting to move out of state. I am worried about the legality of doing so. If it is illegal, is there any way to get permission to do so? And of whom would I ask permission, seeing as nothing has been done to me? Is it a matter of notifing my court appointed attorney? Or is it more complicated? Thanks in advance for any information. Have a great day.

Re: can i leave state

Leaving is generally not a problem, so long as (a) it does not violate any terms of your release or bond, and (b) it is approved by your attorney. If you leave, you must stay in constant touch with your attorney and the court to make sure that you do not miss any court dates or deadlines.

As long as your bondsman, atty and the DA don't care, you should be fine especially if you haven't been indicted yet.

Re: can i leave state

You will need court approval if the move would violate any of your conditions of release.
