Legal Question in Family Law in Mississippi

custody agreement

My wife currently has full custody. She is now willing to grant me full custody until her situation improves. What will be required to change this legally? Additionally, her parents are very involved in the child's life and they are trying to get my son. Do grandparents have rights in the state of Mississippi?

I would recommend you hire a local family law attorney and file a joint petition for modification of child custody in Chancery Court. Since you are both in agreement, this should not be all that expensive.

Yes, but they are very limited. The natural parents of the child are superior to all other persons. I would encourage you to work with the grandparents and let them know that you will not shut them out of this childs life, but you will not give them custody.

I have a page on my web site devoted to grandparents rights. I have provided a link below, due to space limitations here.
