Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Mississippi

Attorney responsibilities

Over a year ago we hired an attorney to go through probate on my parents estate. We gave this attorney $1,000.00 to start the process. We were told that notice must be given in the paper for 90 days.Sixty days into this, I contacted the attorney only to have him tell us he lost or didn't have a contact number or address, and he needed to send us papers to sign. It has been over a year and this matter is still unresolved. There was no problems with anyone coming forward to claim anything owed on this property. The attorney keeps putting us off everytime we call and has actually lost us 2 sales on the property because of his incompetence or whatever. I would like to know what is my recourse with this attorney for this extended amount of time that we have spent to try to get this person to do the job he was paid for. Thanks for any help in this matter.

Re: Attorney responsibilities

Demand your money back and get another attorney. The process you are speaking of should not take very long from start to finish.
