Can a bail be returned?

My boyfriend was arrested and we called to find information and try get him out. We paid bail and just recently found out he was only being held for 24 hours and was going to be released later in the day that we posted bail for him. No one told us about his 24 hour hold or else we wouldn't have paid the bail. Can we get our money back and who do we talk to because we feel like we were taken advantage of.

I don't know who told you he was only going to be held for 24 hours and released, but if there was a bond set then that means that there was at least one criminal charge filed which means that there is an open criminal case. Your boyfriend obviously needs to hire an attorney.
