Submitting Charges
How long does the police department have to file charges for a drug case (intent to distribute marijuana)? The case is in Missouri. The first court date was supposed to be today but they said no charges have been filed yet. The incident happened on April 3, 2009.

The police do not file charges, the prosecutor does, and the prosecutor has years depending upon whether the charge is a misdemeanor or a felony. Contact a lawyer to give you specific advice.
