Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

My husband has contacted a lawyer for uncontested divorce. He has brought me the settlement agreement to review. He now wants me to sign the settlement agreement before having me served the petition. He says that his lawyer needs the settlement agreement signed before processing. Will it be a mistake if I sign the settlement agreement before recieving the petition.

It will be a very big mistake for you to sign a settlement agreement without having a lawyer review it.

The timing of the service of the petition is of no importance in the long run.

I hope this helps.

It would be a huge mistake for you to sign anything beofore havaving it reviewed by an attorney who represents you. Please be sure to consult with an attorney. If you do not have an attorney, I would be happy to offer you a free telephone consultation.
