Voluntary Termination of Parental Rights

Me and a girl had sex. We used protection, but she claims she used the condom to purposly get pregnant. I dont want or need a child at this point in my life and was lied to about the situation at first. I want to terminate my parental rights at birth. Is there anyway to do this?

Re: Voluntary Termination of Parental Rights

You can relinquish your parental rights after birth. However, until the child is adopted, you will remain potentially liable for child support. If she has the child, and you file the Court-provided forms to relinquish your parental rights, you are telling them that you admit paternity, and make no claim as to the child. If the chil dis adopted by another father, you will likely never owe any chilod support. If the child does not get adopted, and even if she marries another guy afterward, you will owe child support until the child is out of college.

If your choice is to not be this kids' Dad, then it may be in yoru interest to do nothing. If you voluntarily had sex with her, despite your use of condoms, you have no action to escape the consequences, under our system of law.

Good Luck
