Legal Question in Employment Law in Missouri

OSHA Fine

I am a subcontractor, and I own my own company. A union worker called OSHA on me, and I recieved a $5000.00 fine from the OSHA inspector for being in a bucket without a harness. They came to my job site and videotaped my crew, asked them all kinds of questions, and isseued me the ticket. This is my first time dealing with OSHA. I have a hearing date. What should I expect? Will they give me a warning or will I have to pay this outrageous fine?

Re: OSHA Fine

I would strongly recommend that you hire an attorney to represent you on this. I have handled similar claims in the past and am usually able to negotiate a much lower settlement than the initially stated fine amount. So, in this sense, hiring an attorney can really save you money. Also, you need to make sure that you find out exactly why OSHA is alleging that you weren't compliant so that you can ensure that there are no future violations. An attorney can help you with this as well. Please don't hesitate to call of email me if I can be of further assistance to you.

Please be advised that no attorney client relationship exists between us unless or until I have agreed, in writing, to represent you.
