Co-Signer for 11 years. Want to be removed

My husband and I have been co-signers on our son's student loan for 11 years. Over the last 3 years he has struggled to make the payments and now Sallie Mae is calling us to make the payment, which we cannot. We want off this loan as co-signers. Is there anything we can do?

Practically speaking no. Of course, you can pay off the loan and that will stop it. You can file for bankruptcy but if your household income is over $50,000, you will still owe it after the bankruptcy.

I have luck with making mortgage lenders come up with the original paperwork, not copies. I can also do that for you and if they cannot come up with the document that has the ink in which you signed, we should prevail.

If this is something that you would like to pursue, it would cost two thousand five hundred in attorney's fees.
