Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada

How do I change jurisdiction from Ca to Nv

Divorce was filed in Calif.in 2002, we have been in custody dispute since. I was granted moved away to Nv in 4/2003. I have temp sole physical, sole legal, he has supervised visitation. No restraining order ( he had it removed, I lost)we go to court on objection to family court recommendation on 10/6/2003. On 10/16/2003 I will have lived in Nv for 6 months with my daughter. He still lives in Ca in the same county as original filing. Is there anything I can do to have jurisdiction changed to Nv?

You can file a motion in Nevada asking the court in Nevada to assume jurisdiction. At that point, the judges from the two jurisdictions are supposed to discuss your case to determine if the matter should be moved to Nevada or remain in California. The fact that you and the minor child have lived in Nevada for 6 months does not

guarantee that jurisdiction will change.
