Legal Question in Bankruptcy in New Hampshire

Student Loans

Are student loans covered in a Chapter 7 banruptcy filing and if not, why not? I am referring to federal unsecured student loans. Thank you in advance.

It is my understanding that student loans are not dischargeable in bankruptcy and will follow you the rest of your life until paid.
