Legal Question in Family Law in New Hampshire
I am looking to have my boyfriend adopt my 22 month old daughter (from a previous relationship). Her father lives out of state and has made no attempt to see her in months. He doesn't pay anything for her and she already calls my boyfriend daddy. I am just afraid that if something happens to me that my ex will get the baby. I want my boyfriend to take care of her if something happens and I don't know what to do.

You would have to have the father give up his parental rights voluntarily or, if there were extraordinary circumstances that made the father totally unfit to be a parent, then you might be able to petition to have his parental rights terminated. Realistically, try to get him to give up his rights. If he has not been paying child support you can seek that and perhaps instead of being obligated for that he might be more cooperative.
