Legal Question in Family Law in New Hampshire

Question regarding child support

I had a child 8 years ago. At that time I wanted to give him up for adoption, but the father said no. My attorney at that time told me to submit a paper with our signatures saying that I would not have to pay child support for this child. I unfortunately did not take her advice and now owe a substantial amount (but I have been paying off and on the entire 8 years). My question is, is it too late to submit that paper and if I do will it make a difference. My ex is on AFDC so the support is ordered through the New Hampshire Dept. of Health and Human Services. Any advice you have on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Re: Question regarding child support

Unfortunately, it is my opinion that the signed paper will not make any difference in your child support payment. The court can still order you to pay despite the signed agreement.
