Legal Question in Employment Law in New Hampshire

Job References

I am currently going through a hiring process for a Police Dept in NH. A Mass Reference has made a statement that is untrue. The Mass Police Dept stated that I refused two shifts as a Part Time Officer because I would have lost unemployment benefits. The Mass DEpt asked me to leave because I refused the two shifts out of 4 offered. My unemployemeny benefits would not have been effected if I did work the shifts. It may cost this opportunity in NH. Is there something that can be done?

Re: Job References

You are in a (s)he said/he said situation.

Get a certified letter from unemployment saying you would not have lost your benefits.

Produce that to NH PD. Then you do not have to worry about the alleged lie.
