Legal Question in Consumer Law in New Jersey

Car dealer sold?

Hello,

I am hoping you can help me with this matter. In June I purchased a car from garden state honda in clifton new jersey. Immediately after i purchased the car it had to be taken back for service. I was promised a rent a car from the dealer but i had to leave the deposit. I was credited the money left for the deposit immediately after i returned the car. It is now three months later. Yesterday i was checking my bank account and i noticed a withdrawl from the rent a car dealer. This morning i contacted both them and the car dealer where i purcahsed my vehicle. It turns out that Garden state honda has been sold since then and the jprevious owner is not paying his bills. I understand that the contract i signed at the rent a car dealer states i am responsible if the first party (garden state honda) does not pay. But, is there any way i can go after the previous owner for my money?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Thomas

Re: Car dealer sold?

You have said that you have found out that the car dealer (the one you bought the car from) is not paying its bills, and that this has affected you. It will take some investigating to find out what is going on. This could be messy. It is also very likely that many other people are being hurt by the prior car dealer not paying its bills.

I think you need to see a lawyer, and find out what is going on, and find out what you can do.
