Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey

I have received many letters from Pressler and Pressler, LLP. In the beginning I ignored them. I now have a judgement against me and they are threating to force the sale of my mother's house. They are also claiming that the sheriff is helping to this end. I have never received anything from the courts listing a date or place for a hearing. Is this legal?

Pressler & Pressler llp is a debt collection law firm. From your description, it sounds like a creditor brought suit against you and may have obtained a default judgment. You may be able to appeal to the court to vacate the judgment if you were not properly served. Pressler may have attempted to serve you at an old address or wrong address. It is very important to obtain the affidavit of service from the court in order to determine how Pressler llp alleged to have served process upon you.

While the judgment is in effect, Pressler may attempt execution through a variety of means including wage garnishment and bank levy. My office can assist you in resolving this matter. Call me for a free initial evaluation.

Yes, they can force payment of a judgment.

Please keep in mind that my response is just a general comment on your question, and not legal advice. I have answered based upon the law of the State of New Jersey where I practice; the laws in other states may be very different, and may result in very different outcomes. Your question and any response does NOT create an attorney-client relationship between you and this law firm. The exact details of your situation and things that you have not mentioned in your question can completely change the response I gave. You can not rely upon what I have written as legal advice, because I do not have all of the information that I need to advise you, I only have the very small amount of information that you put into your question. To get legal advice that you can rely on and use, please contact me directly.
