Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Accused of sexual contact with minor

A friend of mine's 13 year old daughter is telling people I made her touch me sexually. This is no surprise to everyone that knows her, she has made things up even about her father abusing her. No one wants to call authorities because they know it's untrue but this is a serious accusation and I must prepare myself if anything came out of it. I have alot to lose and I just want to protect myself from this vicious lie. Just her telling people that story hurts my reputation whether I did it or not. Does she need proof that it happened or can the police just take her word and I'll be arrested? I've heard similiar stories in the past and from the looks of it, it doesn't look to good. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: Accused of sexual contact with minor

You should call an attorney ASAP. There are many people sitting in prison just because someone like this made a statement. That is all it takes. Getting a good attorney now could prevent you from being charged. Call me at 732/247/3340 to discuss this more.

Be careful of your use of the internet concerning possible pending legal matters. It's much better to get advice from a lawyer in a private meeting. Many offer free consultations!

Please write back direct with a phone number and I'll call to set something up. My direct e-mail is [email protected]

Re: Accused of sexual contact with minor

This is what is termed a strict liability offense, where even if the minor consents it is still illegal and punishable under law, so the girl need not even say she was forced... Just that contact occured.

Overall, for any arrest there only need be an accusation to the police by a complaining witness, not much more is necessary.
