If you are the victim and the police brought the assault charge against the person who assaulted you, then you cannot just drop the charges. What you can do is talk to the prosecutor and tell them that you do not want to proceed on the case. They can then make the decision about dropping the charges. If you are the person who is charged with assault, then the only advice I can give you is to hire a lawyer who will then fight the charge against you. Please contact me to discuss this case further. I never charge for talking to a person about their case. Thank you.

In some cases, the prosecutor will not allow you to drop the charges. However, if you get an attorney, he/she can help set the case up where there the prosecutor has almost no choice but to drop the charges.
