Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

I moved in to an apt with 2 roomates. 2 weeks later my friends money 900 was missing, I wasnt there for most of that week because i was upset with the other roomate, I got worried and went home to check on my jewelery and found that my 1200 watch was missing. I came home to being accused of stealing my friends 900 because the other roomate "is a Registered Nurse who makes 35 an hour and she doesnt need money". So I was so furious of being accused and robbed I moved out. I didnt make a police report because I was very upset at the time, this was in May, couple days ago I text my friend if she found my watch or heard anything from RN girl, she said "she tried it on and put it in my ipod box" Right than I new that RN girl stole my watch with no question. I use my ipod all the time and it was not there. I felt ill thinking that this girl went through my things had to go deep in my closet to find a box that was hard to open take my watch out, try it on, and than dig in my closet some more to find my ipod box?!!!!! So my question is, is there still time to make a police report and would that text message be enough evidence for a trial. That watch meant alot to me and cost alot of money.

Yes, you can go to the local police department where the apartment is located and file a police report.
