Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Theft

I stole some merchandise and cash from my last job while employed, I was caught and now I am waiting on my court date to announced to me. I am extremely nervous about the whole thing, I only took what I did so that I could provide for my wife. I want to know what the maximum penalty would be. The total amount of what I took added up to a little over $2000.00, I do know that I'm being charged for 1 count of theft tho. Please, any information about what I should do (i.e. lawyer) or plan for. Thank you

Re: Theft

This is a 3rd degree felony. You could get probation or 3 to 5 years, depending on your record and other factors. I strongly suggest you get an attorney right away so you can get ahead of this charge instead of trying to catch up to it.

My initial consultations are always free, so call me at 732/247/3340 to discuss your case.

Re: Theft

You are looking at potential state prison time, heavy fines, and having a criminal record. If you can afford a private attorney you should hire one. If not, you should definitely apply for the public defender. There may be a way to prevent a criminal conviction completely. I am an attorney who has handled many cases similar to yours in various courts throughoutr NJ in the past. I would like to discuss your case with you in more detail. Please contact me about this. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.

Sincerely yours, -Ronald Aronds, Esq.-

Re: Theft

I have been been practing criminal law since 1992. Yes, you may face jail time, but that all depends on you prior criminal record. You may even qualify for PTI. Where you would go on probation, if you do well the whole case gets dismissed. Call my office to further discuss 201/646/9600.
