Re: child support

I believe that the school, college or university's guidelines control the number of credits for a "full load".

When I attended Rutgers in the 70's some courses were four semester hour courses and only three of them were required to qualify as a full-time student for VA or financial aide purposes.

I understand that some schools are favoring four-hour courses over three. If the courses are worth three semester hours then four courses would be required under the twelve-credit model as noted Mr. Moore.

In addition, I would check the FAFSA people as they may have guidelines as well.I believe they have a web site with such helpful information.

I also caution you to keep the non-custodial parent, PAR, or non-residential parent in the loop before incurring school obligations.

The issue of reimbursement for college tuition after the other parent has made the decisions unilaterally without input from the other parent has been viewed negatively by the N.J. Supreme Court---especially if the parent seeking reimbursement has awaited an emancipation application from the other parent before seeking to be reimbursed. It's also a good practice generally to have parents being involved anyway.
