Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

impact of fiance moving in with divorced father who has joint custody

I am a divorced father of two children. Divorced for 4 years. I am getting engaged, and want to know what impact, if any, there might be ref legal issues, if my fiance moves in with me a few months prior to the wedding. The children visit often, and spend at least every other weekend overnight in my home. In New Jersey, does this jeopardize the current custody arrangement?

Re: impact of fiance moving in with divorced father who has joint custody

???? Do you anticipate your ex-spouse will go to court to change your custody arrangement if she finds out you are shacking up with your fiance before the wedding???

Why else would you be worried about this?

I'm assuming you and your fiancee will be extremely discrete if she does move in with you for a little while.

Assuming that the two of you are not having wild monkey sex in front of the kids, you'll probably be O.K. until you get hitched legally.

Of course, I don't know what your current custody agreement stipulates, I don't know the history or bitterness of your divorce, I don't know anything about you, your kids, your ex-spouse, or your fiancee--is she a flaky nut? Are you?

You should probably talk to a lawyer if you're nervous. I mean, HIRE a lawyer.
