parental rights

my child is 7 and father has not bothered in 4 years. support is automatically taken out of his check. joint custody order is in union county nj. can i take rights away so my husband can adopt? if so how? can i move case to pa court?

If you and the child have been residence of Pennsylvania for more then 6 months, you can ask a Pennsylvania court to take jurisdiction.

For your husband to adopt you need to terminate the father's parental rights. The carrot you can offer the father is his child support ends with the termination.

Parental rights can be abandoned where a parent voluntarily does not see his or her child for years. Your husband can adopt the child over the

objection of the father in this circumstance.
