Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Separated and don't know rights

I am separated from my husband, though not legally. We rented a house where he is on lease, not me. He kicked me out on Temp Restraining Order which was dismissed as frivolous by judge and still won't let me come back (he is a controller/abuser). I have all my belongings there AND my cats that I brought into marriage whom I haven't seen in almost 8 weeks. What are my rights to see them (can't take them. Staying with friends who are allergic). Also, he says I have to keep him on for my medical plan next year. I can't afford that and he threatens to take me to court. What are my rights?

Re: Separated and don't know rights

no children, that is good. you are entitled to take back your stuff. you have a good deal of legal issues that you need advice on. you probably dont have the money to hire an attorney. you may want to try Legal Aid. you really do need an attorney.

Good luck to you. nasty situation.

Re: Separated and don't know rights

If he supported you financially during the marriage he must continue. Apparently, there are no children because you have not mentioned children. You also have not mentioned

how long you have been married. You also have not indicated whether you want to reconcile with your husband or obtain a divorce. Without a more complete picture of your marriage it is hard to respond to your question.

Call me if you like. I will be in my office this Saturday morning.
