Slander by Ex
Ex-wife is taking me to court attempting to suspend my weekend-overnight parenting time with my daughters, saying they do not have proper privacy. (I have a two bedroom apt.). A (straight) male friend has been staying on my pull out couch for a few weeks while he is consulting in my area (NY-NJ). The Ex-wife said in her written statement to the Judge said that I have been ''cohabitating with a long time male friend.'' The legal definition of cohabitate would imply homosexual connotations, which she was clearly maliciously alluding to, and which couldnt be further from the truth. Do I have grounds to sue her for slander and/or demand a written apology for defamation? btw... the Judge has not ruled on her motion as of yet.

Just be certain to respond to the motion in a timely manner stating what you have stated in your question.
As for suing her I would think that, given the fact of your current estrangement, your wife is a typical woman who lets her imagination get the best of her and that her innuendo is not malicious.

You want to sue her for saying what you think are bad things about you?
How about you focus on the fact that she is trying to terminate your visitation with your kids?
You would do well to hire a lawyer to fight this for you. You need to oppose her motion, in correct form and with the needed documents to support your opposition.
