Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey

car accident civil suit

I was in a car accident 3 years ago. I received a ticket for obstructing traffic. The other driver had a cut on his chin and refused treatment at the scene now he is suing me for damages, cost of suit, attorney fees and any further relief, in 2005 a doctor said he has permanent injury that will not heal and he cannot function normally

Re: car accident civil suit

In New Jersey, the statute of limitations for filing suit to recover for personal injuries is generally 2 years. When was the suit filed against you? IF it was not filed timely, it should be dismissed. More importantly, you should immediately notify your automobile insurance carrier (who was your carrier at the time of the accident) about this suit and they should retain an attorney to defend you. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me.
