Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey

Returned different item than was lent

I had lent someone an amp for a stereo, when they returned it it looked different, I went through my paperwork and the serial number and model number are completely different. I have the receipt, the books, the works. What can I do?

Re: Returned different item than was lent

You can file suit against him asking for the value of what you lent him but which was not returned. Be ready with receipts so you can show the judge the value of what was taken from you. The judge will probably require you to return his stereo. I would think that you could do this in Small Claims Court, assuming the value is $2000 or less. You should seek the advice of an attorney if you have any doubts about the direction in which you should go at this point. Good Luck!
