Legal Question in Intellectual Property in New Jersey

Coining a phrase...

I am an attorney creating a website to assist other attorneys in research. I would like to use 2 words that I've made-up as part of the site. But I want to legally protect them with a trademark, an use the ''tm'' symbol. Can a word that is made-up by somebody be trademarked? And how's this done when completing the description with the uspto application? The words consist of 2 everyday words combined into one but each describe something applicable to the legal profession. What are the laws on ''coining a phrase?'' For instance I know someone trademarked the phrase ''Web2.0'', but it's being infringed everywhere b/c it's become part of internet jargon.

Re: Coining a phrase...

If the words are "made up" + will describe a product or svc you can do TM. If they are Eng words it may be difficult. If you e-mail me the "coined phrase" I can better advise you.
