Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey

Fired for getting a promotion

I was working at a nursing home per diem while going to LPN school. Once I got the license, they ''let me go'' because they don't have enough nurses to train me. The entire time I was working during school, they gave me no clue that they were going to fire me, quite the opposite actually. Was this legal for them to do?

Re: Fired for getting a promotion

Based on the information which you have provided, there is nothing illegal about firing you. However, if the nursing home had promised you a job once you graduated, then you may have a breach of contract claim.
