Legal Question in Personal Injury in New Jersey

My daughter moved in with her boyfriend who has joint custody of his 4 year old son. Her dog is living with them as well. Both names are on the lease. The son bothered the dog while he was sleeping and the dog bit him pretty badly on the face requiring plastic surgery. The ex-wife is now suing my daughter and is also trying to sue my husband and myself because the dog used to live with us. The bite happened in my daughter and her boyfriends apartment. Both were home at the time. First, can she sue me and my husband, and also isn't my daughter's boyfriend equally at fault as this happened in their joint apartment.
