Legal Question in Personal Injury in New Jersey

Liability of co-signer on auto loan

If I co-sign an auto loan for a friend, am I liable for anything other than payment if the friend does not make payment? For instance, if he were to have an accident and cause property damage or injury to others, am I in any way liable for these possible damages?

thanks !

No, you are not liable. If you are the registered owner of the vehicle, however, you may be joined as a co-defendant in any lawsuit that arises out of his negligence. visit www.gomezlegal.com for answers to other questions you may have.
