Legal Question in Social Security Law in New Jersey

My husband and I started to collect social security benefits at age 62. He died at the age of 68. I am wondering if I should be getting his benefit and not mine?

You cannot receive his benefit but you may be eligible for a Survivor's or widow's benefit if you are:

ĽA widow .. full benefits at full retirement age, or reduced benefits as early as age 60

ĽA disabled widow or widower -- as early as age 50

ĽA widow ... at any age if he or she takes care of the deceased's child who is under age 16 or disabled, and receiving Social Security benefits
