Legal Question in Tax Law in New Jersey

Appeal of Responsible Party Liabilityfor 990 Taxes

Although I was an employee of a non-profit organization, I was designated as the sole person responsible for the tax liability for thw group who I worked for who had a board of directors. Although the Philadelphia office of the IRS was informed of this, I nonetheless was named the responsible party for the tax liability. In 1999, I used $30,000 of the equity I had in my home to pay the tax. Accordingly, I would like to know if if I can appeal and recoup all or part of my payment and have the tax liability shared with others who I think were equally liable. I have a copious file of records on hand that confirms that the board of directors were aware of our tax liabilities and directed me to pay bills other that the IRS. Is this appealable and can younrepresent me?

You should be able to go after others responsible for repayment; I am not licensed in your State but if you would like me to assist you in finding attorney who is qualified, let me know your city, closest city and County.
