Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

39:4-97

I was recently involved in a minor accident on a busy on ramp to the GSP. I tried to get the other driver to move off the ramp onto the GSP so we could exchange info. The driver didn't move up. SO i passed them and waived for them to follow me. I went onto the GSP and stopped there top await the other vehicle. They never showed up. I i believe I'm being charged with an offence 39:4-97. WHat do I do?

You have described a scenario under which you could be charged with leaving the scene of an accident, which has a penslty of six month loss of license, upon conviction.

If you were on the Garden State Parkway, I would expect the State Police to be involved. You might call State Police barracks in the county where the accident occurred to see if there is an record of the accident and/or any charges filed against you.

I would suggest that you have a lawyer do this for you, to avoid making incriminating statements to the police.

Call me if you like.
