Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

should i fight this speeding ticket ?

should i fight this ticket ?

This morning I was driving to work, I saw a cop driving in the opposite direction, make a U turn, then pace me. He claims I was doing 92 & was pacing me at 85. There is absolute no way i was doing 92 or 85, I watched my speedometer while the cop paced me; it was 71-73. But the biggest thing is I am positive he didn't even clock me PERIOD. I saw him literally driving the opposite way, make a U turn then come after me. Infact after the cop pulled me over the first question he asked after license/insur/reg then he immediately asks me ''what is in that canister''; i said water, then he asked me where i was going ; i said fort monmouth/nj; he said why ; ??? I am muslim with a beard & its pretty easy to put 2 & 2 together, I mean this is as soon as he took my license. So after the cop took my stuff went back to his car; i decided to record the conversation for when he comes back (i have an mp3 recorder) The officer comes back & says that i was going 92 & he paced me at 85. I that is impossible since i saw you do a U turn; he said ( i have it on tape) yea i clocked you after i did a U turn; if i really was doing 92 you did a U turn, stopped, then clocked me ??? thanks for any advice

That is a very serious speeding ticket.

Yes, I suggest you get a truly good criminal defense attorney and fight it.

The anit-Muslim aspects? I am sorry if that is what really took place, that is just wrong.

Find a good criminal defense attorney, hire the attorney and go fight it. Interview the attorney before you hire: how often does this attorney go to Municipal Court? How many trials did the attorney do in the last 2 years? 5 years? make sure you hire someone who will FIGHT for you, not just go make a deal to drop it a couple of miles per hour, or just get you an 'unsafe driving'.

Try the county bar association, and ask who the chairman of the criminal law committee is this year and last year. That should be 2 attorneys who are pretty good.

You are not in my area; I can not assist. Good luck to you.

It may not be worth it for you to really take this to trial, but if you really want to, I'm ready to go. I have an office in Eatontown so call me to discuss the entire case if you would like.
