Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

I RECEIVED A TICKET FOR FAILURE TO YIELD AND WHEN HE RAN MY PLATES MY LICENSE WAS SUSPENDED! APPARENTLY I HAD AN OLD TICKET WHICH I DIDNT PAY WHICH CAUSED MY LICENSE TO BE SUSPENDED. I HONESTLY WAS SHOCKED BUT I AM SURE EVERYONE SAYS THAT.

WELL I GOT TWO TICKETS. DRIVING WHILE SUSPENDED AND FAILURE TO YIELD. MY LICENSE IS CURRENTLY RESTORED AS OF THIS MORNING BUT i HAVE TO GO TO COURT. ONLINE IS SAYS I READ THIS INVOLVES A LOT OF POINTS! MAYBE A SURCHARGE. I AM FREAKING OUT. WHEN I CALLED THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF THE TICKET THE CLERK INDICATED THAT IF I RESTORED MY LICENSE MOST SUSPENDED LICENSE TICKETS ARE REDUCED OR DISMISSED WHICH SORT OF CONTRADICTS SOME OF WHAT I READ ONLINE. I AM STRESSED AND MY COURT DATE IS MONTHS AWAY.

IF I GET A LAWYER, ITS SUPER EXPENSIVE AND I JUST DONT HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY THE TICKETS AND THE LAWYER. ANY ADVICE? I ESPECIALLY DONT WANT TO GET A LAWYER IF IT WONT DO ME ANY GOOD.

If you have restored your license and you otherwise have a good driving record, a prosecutor may give you a break. Also, your not knowing about the suspension may be a defense. As for

how expensive a lawyer's fee would be you should call me to inquire as to what I would charge you. You may feel that the fee I would require is both reasonable and affordable.

Where did you receive your ticket? If you were suspended because of a parking ticket, there are a number of options that the prosecutor may do for you, some are better than others. From what you say, it sounds like you have a defense.
