Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

Credit collecters are circling and I have NO income...

I am being sued for a credit card debt from six years ago and I have no income because I am a student, other than my student loan. What is the best way to handle this? Apply for bankruptcy, ignore them.. what? I will not be working for at least two more years but they are not willing to wait any longer. Can't really blame them, but I told them that when I graduate I intended to see a credit counselor and start paying back my loans. My friends say to avoid them until 7 years have passed. But I don't want to get a good job and then get garnisheed at work.

Payment plan....$x.xx per month for y months provided that the interest clock stops ticking and no further fees are added. They will want to get a judgment against of you miss a payment...that will be fine...

Good Luck
