Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

Credit judgement

Papers served without court date. Can make payments on outstanding amount. Lawyer states that the only way to stop court and judgement is to pay in full. This is NY-Orange County. Is this true? I thought making the payments would stop all legal workings, they say no.

Re: Credit judgement

They do not have to accept payments from you.

You must answer the complaint or they will get a default judgment.

If this debt is over 6 years old, see an attorney before you pay anything or write anything.
