Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

I voluntarily gave girlfriends nieces father my SS# because he said he just needed to use me as a reference to get his daughter a student loan. A day later he said my info was not need and that I was all set. 4 years later I get a call from Sallie Mae Stating that I am responsible for repaying the loan as I found out he used my SS# without my consent when he was rejected in getting the loan using his own information

Retain counsel to communicate with them. No doubt they will be suing you. A criminal complaint may also be made.

If you did not borrow or cosign for the loan, then you should not be responsible. Salli Mae may sue you for recovery and it will be crucial that you assert the correct defenses. Contact my office to learn how we may assist you.
