Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

I would like some one with criminal law experience in this matter to answer me. My cousing who came from the dominican republic purchased some documents from a puerto rican guy , he used those documents to obtain a usa passport wich he used to work only, now some federal special agents are looking for him. I dont know what he is being charge with I think is that he obtained a usa passport with papers that did not belong to him. my question is how much time is he facing? can he work a plea deal? will he be deported if he dosnt do time or if he does time? and the fact that he has being on the run for 8 months makes it worst.

The amount of time he is facing would depend on the charge that is ultimately lodged against him. Most cases work out with a "plea deal". His deportation would depend on his immigration status as well as his ultimate conviction. It would be best to consult a lawyer prior to his turning himself in or being arrested.
