Pocession and use of counterfeit money by a minor (17 years old)

If a person of the age of 17 was caught in a night club with fake identification and $300 of counterfeit 20 dollar bills that he used to purchase drinks is he trialed as an adult? he will be 18 in 2 days. when he was caught by the club owner he confessed that he knew that the money was counterfeit. he was aressted and broght to cental booking. he has to appear in court this week. he has no prior conviction he just graduated high school with honnors and is a good kid who just did something stupid. can you please give me an idea of what might happen to him? i know that this is a felony charge and that can't be good so please prepare me for the worst that could happen. thank you i would really appreciate it ................his concerned cousin......Diana

The best advise I can give is to retain a competent criminal defense attorney. This attorney will discuss and review the facts ,which strongly indicate culpability.
